Fabrizio Romano issues Tottenham Hotspur injury blow ahead of Everton Premier League clash

Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal is reportedly set to miss the game against Everton on 1 April as he will be undergoing surgery.

According to Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian will be out for up to six weeks which means there’s a likelihood of him not returning until the final weeks of the campaign.

The North London club have also recently sacked their manager Antonio Conte which means that Cristian Stellini will be in charge against Sean Dyche’s side.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Emerson Royal, set to miss next 6 weeks with a knee injury — and it also requires surgery. Operation will take place in the next days — one more blow for Spurs and Stellini.”

Advantage?

Emerson has been a first-team regular for Spurs this season so in a way it can be looked as an advantage for Everton.

However, the downside is that the squad is going to be rejuvenated after an international break and the board will urge Stellini to release the shackles.

Under Conte, they looked like a team that were passive and always waiting to react to what the opposition does rather than taking the game into their own hands.

Dyche also deploys a similar system and at Everton, it’s much of the same for him and it appears to be working so far.

He will not know what sort of Spurs side is going to turn up so it makes sense for him to stick to his guns and not try something out of the blue.

It’s also important that Dyche and the Toffees players ensure that they focus on matters on the pitch as recent off the pitch controversies have seen Farhad Moshiri perhaps at risk of even breaking the law.
