Everton to put Niels Nkounkou on transfer list amid Saint-Etienne interest

Everton will reportedly put Niels Nkounkou on the transfer list this summer as they’re set to part ways with the 22-year-old.

According to Homme du Match [27 March], the French club will find it difficult to chalk out the £2.64million that the Toffees are demanding in exchange for his services.

This has led to the situation being “complicated” as it seems that all parties are keen on getting the deal done.

Time to go?

Nkounkou has done well on loan this season and will certainly give the Everton hierarchy a few things to ponder about as they make the decision over his future.

That said, we do not think that he’s done enough to climb up the pecking order at Goodison Park and rather than loaning him out again, it makes sense to sell him.

If Etienne cannot chalk up the funds, there will be other clubs perhaps in Ligue 1 or another top European league willing to take the punt.

He is young and has proven himself recently so it should not be hard to find a market for the French centre-back.

Everton need to make as much money as they can from selling players that are unlikely to strengthen their first team and they are in the midst of a fresh financial storm as well.

It remains to be seen where Nkounkou ends up but it is very likely that his future is way from Goodison Park.
