Everton could be forced to spend more on Bramley-Moore Stadium than expected
Everton could be forced to spend more on the new Bramley-Moore Stadium than initially planned according to a report by the Daily Mail (28 March).
The Toffees have so far spent around £350m on the stadium, but it’s believed that it will cost almost double that to complete the build and the club will need outside investment to do so.
But while the club announced that they had agreed a contract with Laing O’Rourke for a fixed price, a new report suggests that it more complicated than made out and the price could actually still go up.

It’s believed that Laing O’Rourke have agreed to a fixed profit margin with Everton, but can still pass on the increases in the cost of material and supply-chain difficulties to the club.
The Daily Mail contacted Everton for questioning, and they confirmed that the “fixed” contract is actually an agreement of pre-defined margins to give the club guarantees over minimum and maximum costs, but the overall price is not fixed and can change to a degree.
Trouble brewing
While the new stadium is needed and wanted, it certainly seems as though it could cause a lot of trouble for the club financially going forward.
Farhad Moshiri simply can’t afford to do it on his own and with the recent charges for financial breaches mixed with the performance on the pitch leaving us in a precarious position in the Premier League, finding investment is almost certain to prove more difficult than initially believed.

It’s also not helping that Moshiri is valuing the club way above what anyone else is, so all the interested parties are being put off putting their money in to help.
Something has to be done quickly however, because otherwise we’ll be left with a half-done stadium and no money in the bank which will leave us in a big hole.
Relegation this season could really be a massive problem for our future, so here’s hoping Sean Dyche can keep up his good work and keep us up to give us a fighting chance.
