We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton loanee Dele Alli could now be ruled out until the final few weeks of the season after suffering an injury, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert clarified the muscle tear injury that the former Tottenham Hotspur attacker endured in his thigh.

In his opinion, this appears to be a Grade 1 or Grade 2 injury which could be as benign as one week or it could keep him out for nearly two months.

Besiktas, the side he’s out on loan at, confirmed that a partial tear was detected after MRI scans and that they have started to treat the England international.

Speaking exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “Upper thigh muscle most commonly refers to a hip flexor and then timeline depends on severity.

Based on treatment, it sounds like most likely has a grade 1 or grade 2 injury which can range from one to two weeks to over six weeks. His limited game time over the last few seasons – and thus lack of fitness – did not help in preventing the injury and further makes it more likely he could re-aggravate it upon returning.

Alli has not managed to hit the ground running since leaving Spurs and his move to Goodison Park also was a total mess.

He went out on loan to prove his credentials, but there have been reports of him falling out with the Besiktas hierarchy as well.

Given his injury, it remains to be seen if the 26-year-old will regain his fitness in order to play again this season.
