Everton to land 'brilliant' Arnaut Danjuma after 'unlikely' Tottenham development
Arnaut Danjuma’s collapsed move to Everton was well-documented, with Tottenham Hotspur the eventual destination for the on-loan Villarreal winger.
The Toffees were agonisingly close to sealing a winter move for the 26-year-old, with Italian journalist Marco Conterio first revealing the news of Spurs’ “sensational” hijack (Twitter account, 24 January).
It’s safe to say the decision from the Dutchman was a foolish one. In Tottenham’s last eight games the winger has featured for just 11 minutes; had he moved to Merseyside, this wouldn’t have been the case.
The Evening Standard now report (29 March) that Danjuma is “unlikely” to make his deal permanent in North London and this could open the door for the Toffees to finally land the winger.
Many will be annoyed at the thought of the Dutchman moving to Everton after initally snubbing the club, however, whether you like it or not, there’s no loyalty in modern day football.
On his day, he’s a high-quality winger who would dramatically improve the Toffees’ attacking options. With Danjuma likely to be available in the summer, the club could well use the connections they previously formed to thrash out a relatively easy deal.

Sky Sports reporter Olivia Buzaglo previously claimed (Sky Sports Transfer Centre, 10:45, 11 January) the 26-year-old would be a “brilliant” signing for Everton and that’s still the case.
This summer is another chance for the board to finally show they can make sensible decisions in the market, particularly if Everton secure their Premier League status.
Another relegation battle next season cannot be contemplated.
