Everton transfer fees emerge as management estimates revealed at Goodison Park
Everton management has estimated that they have £68million worth of contingent fees in their 2021/2022 financial accounts, as shared by Paul Brown.
The transfer of Dele Alli from Spurs to Everton in January 2022, which was initially a free transfer but potentially rising as high as £40million based on appearances, is expected to have added a large sum to this total of contingent fees.
The much-debated piece of transfer business sanctioned the Toffees to pay a certain amount to Tottenham after the playmaker had reached a determined number of appearances for the Merseyside club.

Taking to Twitter on Friday afternoon (31 March), Daily Star journalist Brown shared a segment of the Everton 2021/22 Reports and Accounts, which read: “As per the terms of some transfer agreements entered into there are fees contingent on future appearances of certain players.
“At 30 June 2022 there is £68,223,000 (2021: £46,628,000) of contingent fees which are not considered probably based on management’s best estimates.”
Alli transfer central
When Everton signed Alli from Spurs, it was a controversial piece of transfer business, with Everton all but in the box seat for what they wanted to pay the North London club.
Theoretically, the Toffees could play Alli one game fewer than his pre-determined number and would then not need to fork out any money whatsoever for him.
This is certainly how the transfer ended up playing out, with Alli struggling to adapt to life under Frank Lampard and subsequently being shipped out on loan to Besiktas in the summer transfer window.
At the end of the day, it seems like Tottenham wanted to offload the midfielder and get him off the books, and Everton had little risk involved in the move.
Having burnt yet more bridges while out in the Turkish league, it now seems like the 26-year-old has next to no chance of a future playing football at Goodison Park.
