Everton will stay in the Premier League thanks to what Sean Dyche has done ahead of Tottenham clash – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell believes Sean Dyche has shown that he will keep Everton in the Premier League this season with a surprise goal-boost.

The Toffees have been notoriously short of firepower this season with only Demarai Gray out of the previous campaign’s main scoring threats available with any sort of regularity, but the former Burnley boss has been getting results and the team has been finding the net of late.

Campbell, a regular Sky Sports pundit, is delighted by the development, and while the relegation battle is still far from over he now has confidence that Premier League survival can be achieved.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News the former Toffees captain believes Dyche will now keep the club up, saying: “I do if I’m honest. It was always going to be [a matter of] see how it goes, see how the team react to his methods.

“Sean Dyche has gone back to basics. He’s made them tough to beat.

“They’ve won games 1-0, 1-0, and I was one of them who said they didn’t have a lot of goals in them.

“But they’ve scored two goals away at [Nottingham] Forest, two goals away at Chelsea, so there’s obviously goals there now within the framework.

“I think it’s great they’ve got a bit of that in them now, and performances have gone up.

“Look where they are now, moving up the table. Obviously there’s some tough games to come but let’s be honest they are all tough in the Premier League.”

Five goals in the past three games, with as many points taken in that time, is the sort of form that should be standard for a club like Everton but has been hard to come by this season.

The draw at Chelsea (18 March) saw the club climb to 15th, but with teams around them getting results over the weekend the Toffees head into Monday night’s (3 April) clash with Tottenham back inside the bottom three on goal-difference, so regular results are proving key.

It is likely to go down to the wire, but if Dyche can navigate a way to safety when he hasn’t had any of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anthony Gordon or Andros Townsend to help find the net it will be some achievement.
