Abdoulaye Doucoure blasted by Sky Sports commentator after red card in Everton clash v Tottenham Hotspur
Abdoulaye Doucoure has been blasted by Sky Sports commentator Don Goodman for his moment of madness for Everton against Tottenham.
The Mali international was shown a straight red card for pushing Harry Kane in the face in a needless confrontation just before the hour mark, leaving Everton to battle with ten men to claim a 1-1 draw.
But while working on commentary for Sky Sports (3 April, 21:16), Goodman reacted instantly to the incident and called Doucoure “crazy” for his reaction, saying it was “unnecessary”.
“There’s a coming together there, but it’s just a crazy, crazy reaction,” he said. “And so unnecessary.
“I understand he’s keen. He didn’t like that and that’s fine, he’s keen to get on with it. But don’t get involved.
“You cannot afford, when you’re in a relegation battle, to leave your teammates down to 10 men like that.
“He’s had a shocker I’m afraid. You can’t defend him.”
Awful
For someone who has done so little wrong since coming back into the side under Dyche, this was really, really poor from Doucoure.
The whistle had already gone for a foul to Everton, and Doucoure got needlessly involved in a clash with Kane and just massively overreacted.

Kane obviously exaggerated the contact and stayed down, but Doucoure should know better at this point in his career and shouldn’t have raised his hands to begin with.
The defeat is obviously hard to swallow because we were firmly in the game until that point, but it now means he’ll be missing for the next three games too as it was a violent conduct red card.
He’s been a huge plus to the midfield since coming in, so Dyche will now have to find a way to replace his physicality and running in the team to get results against Manchester United, Fulham and Crystal Palace.
