Everton transfer news as Divock Origi move on cards despite Liverpool links

Everton have been mentioned as having a potential interest in Divock Origi with a return to England mooted due to his present struggles at AC Milan, as reported by Calciomercato.

The Belgian international has not lived up to expectations in Lombardy scoring just two goals from his 20 Serie A appearances to date. In addition, he has made just five Champions League outings, all from the bench, without a goal.

The report from Calciomercato stated that the 27-year-old will not struggle to find a new club if he is deemed to be surplus to requirements in Milan. It was claimed that there was plenty of interest in England, prior to his move from Liverpool and to prepare for enquiries from West Ham, Leeds, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace

Obstacles in the way

“Everton cannot be ruled out”, was the claim due to the well-known need for reinforcements in attack but the elephant in the room was acknowledged.

Would Sean Dyche work with a player like Origi and potentially get the best out of him? Absolutely.

However, there are other obstacles in the way of such a move with his Liverpool past representing an obvious issue.

In the recent past, the Belgian striker has scored six times in a red shirt against the Toffees which is simply not conducive to a healthy relationship with the Everton fans. Especially not for the type of signing who would need to be a key figure for Dyche’s team.

There is also the very obvious matter of the current situation at the club. Until Premier League safety is secured, there is no chance of the likes of Origi, or any player currently at top clubs across Europe, having desires to seal a switch to Goodison.

After another morale-boosting result against Tottenham, in the circumstances of Monday night’s game, the manager continues to gain credit from the stands as well as those outside the club. That will only improve and increase going forward and with that in mind, Dyche appears too clever to sanction any possible move for a player with a history such as Origi.
