Jamie O’Hara blasts back at Gary Neville swipe on Twitter after ‘diabolical’ Tottenham draw v Everton

Jamie O’Hara has blasted back after fellow pundit Gary Neville took a swipe at former Tottenham players criticising the current Spurs squad following their draw at Everton on Monday (3 April).

Defender Michael Keane scored a dramatic 90th-minute equaliser for the Toffees after Harry Kane opened the scoring from the spot in the 68th minute at Goodison Park.

The result leaves Spurs sitting fourth in the table, with former midfielder Jamie O’Hara hitting back after Neville inadvertently called out ex-Spurs players on Twitter for criticising the current team.

Everton

“Interesting seeing ex-Spurs players that never got near to Champions League places for years when they played for the club saying they can’t watch this current team now,” Neville Tweeted. “Spurs are in 4th place currently ahead of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool. Perspective!”

O’Hara responded: “Massive fan of Gary Neville so won’t get into a slanging match, I did play for Spurs, grew up at Spurs and a huge fan who cares about the club and seeing the awful football week in week out is hard to watch, everyone is entitled to an opinion and we may be 4th but it’s diabolical.”

Harsh truth

Spurs may not be exciting their passionate fans lately, with supporters understandably frustrated after dropping points from a winning position, particularly to relegation-threatened Everton.

But the North London outfit are sitting pretty in the Champions League places this season, with the club level with Newcastle and Manchester United on 50 points.

The 14-gap to second-placed Man City won’t be closed anytime soon, but Spurs fans should be grateful that the club remain in contention for Champions League football, particularly with all the noise that is going on behind the scenes.

Discontent at Daniel Levy continues, with Antonio Conte’s recent sacking another reason behind fan frustration, but there cannot be too many complaints if the club secure a spot in Europe’s elite competition.

Their problems are minute compared to the Toffees, who still have a huge fight on their hands despite picking up a hugely important point at Goodison on Monday.
