Laura Woods and Ally McCoist wax lyrical about Michael Keane live on talkSPORT after Everton draw v Spurs

Laura Woods and Ally McCoist delivered a glowing review of Everton defender Michael Keane after he went from villain to hero in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham at Goodison Park.

The English defender was culpable for gifting Spurs a penalty after an hour of Monday night’s clash (3 April) but wowed the Merseyside faithful with a blockbuster 30-yard strike to level proceedings in the 90th minute.

Speaking live on talkSPORT Breakfast on Tuesday morning (4 April, 6:08am), Woods and McCoist waxed lyrical about the Toffees centre-back, whose late goal helped Sean Dyche’s extend their Premier League unbeaten run to four games and move up to 15th in the table.

“He actually scored the most amazing goal,” she said.

“He then goes on to score an equalising goal which was an absolute banger.”

McCoist replied: “That’s what Michael Keane does, he just gets involved in everything. There is never a dull moment, he is a modern-day action man.”

Action man

Keane was certainly the action man on Monday night.

In a game that had everything, the 30-year-old’s strike in the last minute was the cherry on top.

When the ball fell to an Everton foot on the edge of the box, fans would have been frustrated to see that it was Keane, but the swerving shot was something else.

The pace of the strike, the technique to hit it perfectly on the laces, and the pin-point positioning into Hugo Lloris’ top corner was the perfect combination and gave Everton a deserved point.

Throughout the breathless encounter, Dyche’s side were full of energy and highlighted their never-give-up attitude.

The pressing and aggressive mindset caught Spurs off guard, and if the first-team continues in this vein over the coming weeks, they should have no trouble avoiding relegation.

Keane will certainly be in the headlines for some time to come if this goal ultimately helps the club beat the drop.

Give the man a statue.
