Journalist shares Everton relegation verdict as Michael Keane ‘beautifully and inexorably’ nets equaliser
Everton can banish their Premier League relegation worries by showing a similar spirit that they displayed in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Monday (3 April).
Defender Michael Keane netted a stunning equaliser in the 90th minute at Goodison Park, 20 minutes after Harry Kane opened the scoring for the hosts.
The result sees the Toffees edge closer to safety, with Sean Dyche’s men urged to perform like that in every match until the end of the season.

“Keane, beautifully and inexorably, provided it [the goal] with a strike as good as he will ever conjure,” King wrote for the Daily Mail.
“If spirit has anything to do with it, Everton’s relegation worries will be banished immediately.”

Huge fight ahead
Everton and Dyche can take huge confidence from the draw against Spurs, who are fighting for the top four as the Toffees fight for their Premier League safety.
Dispute the challenging opposition, a point was the least that Dyche’s men needed in their battle for survival, with the draw placing them 15th in the table.
But the danger is very real, with the Toffees just one point off the relegation zone and four points off the very bottom.
Another very tricky test awaits against fifth-placed Manchester United on Saturday (8 April), but the club will be boosted by the fact they have just taken points from Spurs, who are level on points with the Red Devils.
It was an agonising watch for Everton at the weekend as fellow strugglers Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and West Ham all picked up wins, but the Toffees will very much take the point from Spurs, especially after going down to 10 men following Abdoulaye Doucoure’s red card.
Keane’s stunning strike will be welcomed with open arms by Dyche, but it also represents just how much the club’s forwards have been struggling this season, with Everton’s attackers needing to improve in the final third if the Toffees have any hopes of staying up.
