Everton set to hold meetings to decide Amadou Onana’s price as new transfer speculation emerges

Everton are set to hold meetings soon to determine the price for Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana with Arsenal and Chelsea’s reported “real” interest, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

According to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad, the capital rivals are lining up to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the summer transfer window with the report revealing that the Toffees are looking to recoup between £50-£60m for their star man.

The £33m Everton summer signing has been an absolute revelation for the Toffees throughout the campaign and Tavolieri took to his personal Twitter account [6 April] to reveal that there is no official price yet for the midfielder but the Blues will soon hold meetings to decide.

He tweeted: “A lot of noise for not much on an Onana’s news about Chelsea & Arsenal interest.

“It stays something real but no news as of now.

“Also, no official price by Everton has been put in place yet but the next meetings soon will provide details on this aspect. Cheers.”

Must keep

It was only going to be a matter of time before Onana’s performances attracted the attention of Europe’s elite, and it now seems that Everton have a tough and frustrating fight on their hands to keep his talented services at Goodison Park.

The Belgian international has been absolutely superb since his move from Lille last summer, and it’s easy to see why Arsenal and Chelsea are all battling for his services this summer.

Everton

His quality and class from midfield seem an ideal fit at both clubs, but providing the Toffees secure their Premier League status and harbour aims to get back into the top Premier League conversations, then they must do all they can to keep him for next season.

And they are in a rather humble and pleasing position given his contract doesn’t run out until 2027 so they can set any hefty price if the Belgian wishes to leave in the end.

Considering the financial difficulties Farhad Moshiri finds himself in right now – needing significant funding for the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium and in the midst of an FFP investigation – it looks like Dyche is going to have a limited war chest to attack the summer transfer window with right now.

£50-£60m does seem reasonable but we believe the Belgian should cost more than that, especially if Everton manages to remain in the Premier League. It’s only right.
