Everton team news v Manchester United: Dominic Calvert-Lewin and three others ruled out

Sean Dyche has revealed the Everton team news for the clash against Manchester United on Saturday, 8 April, at Old Trafford.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is continuing his recovery but hasn’t been deemed fit while Andros Townsend continues recovering from his long-term injury.

Ruben Vinagre is back in training after an Achilles injury, but this game appears to have come too soon for him to return while Abdoulaye Doucoure will miss the game because of a suspension.

The Everton boss said, via the Liverpool Echo, “DCL continues his recovery, Townsend does too but is further away, Vinagre had an Achilles issue but is back on the grass”.

Tough one

Going to Old Trafford is never easy, regardless of whether or not the Manchester United side is in form or not.

One thing that Everton will be happy about is that the Red Devils have appeared subdued in the past few weeks and are struggling to win games with ease.

Even on Wednesday, 5 April, in what should’ve been a relatively easy win at home to Brentford, they barely scraped it 1-0 and the Bees had two good chances to equalise and go back with a point.

Everton

Calvert-Lewin’s ongoing absence is a cause of concern and this game could be one where Ellis Simms is given a start.

Demarai Gray has been playing as a nine over the past few games, but has not offered the sort of goal threat one would expect from a striker.

It remains to be seen if Ben Godfrey continues at left-back as there’s a chance of a change being made there.
