Everton transfer news: Arsenal not interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin despite past scouting trips
Arsenal are not interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin right now despite sending scouts to watch the Everton striker in the past, according to journalist Steve Kay.
Football Insider (2 April) reported that the Gunners were monitoring the availability of the 26-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta thought to be an admirer of Calvert-Lewin when fit.
However, writing via his personal Twitter account, Kay, who is followed by the likes of Dharmesh Sheth, shared that Arsenal will prioritise integrating Reims’ loanee Folarin Balogun into the first team ahead of a move for the Toffees forward.

“Arsenal are not interested at this time in signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, or the 20-year-old Danish international Rasmus Højlund,” he wrote (6 April).
“It is true that both players have been scouted by the Gunners, but as of now, Mikel Arteta’s main priority will be to integrate Folarin Balogun into the first team next season.”
Positive update
Although Everton fans have yet to see the fully firing Calvert-Lewin this season, there is undoubtedly still a top Premier League forward in him.
A move to Arsenal looks a little far-fetched but confirms yet again how highly rated the England international is around European football.
When in peak physical condition, Calvert-Lewin is a handful for any centre-back, and his physical dominance in the air is extremely hard to compete with.
Sean Dyche will be trying his best to keep the striker at Goodison Park into next season and will hope that a strong pre-season and time to fully recover from any niggles will leave him well-placed for the 2023/24 campaign.
At 26, the Toffees striker still has plenty of football ahead of him, and on paper, he should suit the Dyche blueprint to perfection.
With the likes of Dwight McNeil and Demarai Gray whipping balls into the box from either wing, Calvert-Lewin should be feasting on goals in the near future – he just needs to remain away from the Goodison Park medical table for long enough to reignite his top form.
