Paul Merson predicts result of Everton Premier League clash v Manchester United
Paul Merson has backed Manchester United to beat Everton 2-0 when the two sides meet on Saturday afternoon (08 April).
Sean Dyche’s men are coming off of two impressive results against Tottenham and Chelsea and will be looking to make it five games unbeaten at Old Trafford.
United got back to winning ways on Wednesday evening against Brentford and Merson believes Erik ten Hag’s men will have too much for the Toffees.

“United haven’t been playing very well, but they were impressive yesterday against Brentford,” said Merson (Sportkeeda predictions, 6 April).
“Manchester United are a hard team to beat. Casemiro and Eriksen are big misses – they are the players that you don’t want missing from your team.
“Marcus Rashford went three or four games without finding the back of the net, but he’s now back to scoring goals.
“Sean Dyche has made Everton a hard team to get past, and they will pick up points here and there. They’re not out of trouble just yet. I don’t see them winning three or four games on the trot in the Premier League.
“Everton have stepped up this month, but I’ve got to go with Man United this weekend. A win here should cement their place in the Premier League top four. Manchester United 2-0 Everton.”
Consistency
The 4-0 hammering at the hands of Arsenal has seemingly been a turning point for Dyche’s men. They’ve remained unbeaten since the trip to The Emirates and look a completely different team under the former Burnley boss. This was always going to be the case. Dyche has the team organised and fighting for one another.
Everton’s draw against Tottenham was a perfect example of the confidence and character which is currently coursing through the players. Under a previous regime, they would have capitulated after going down to ten men. Instead, the players grew into the game and secured a vital three points courtesy of a thunderbolt from Michael Keane.

They’re certainly not out of trouble at the moment, but if the performance levels remain the same, Everton will be a Premier League side come the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
As for the trip to Old Trafford, ten Hag’s men have been struggling for form of late and are under pressure to get a result – there’s an excellent chance for Dyche’s men to frustrate and battle their way to a result.
