Everton defender Niels Nkounkou transfer target for elite clubs in summer

Everton defender Niels Nkounkou is reportedly on the radar of “elite” clubs in the summer transfer window.

According to French media outlet Foot Sur 7 [6 April], the 22-year-old is an in-demand player and is drawing interest from clubs all over Europe.

It’s understood that the Toffees have put Nkounkou on the transfer list and are looking at £2.64million in exchange for his services. [Homme du Match on 27 March]

Up his price

If there really are top European sides looking at signing him then it makes a lot of sense for the Toffees to demand more for his services.

He has done well on loan at Saint Etienne this season and has proven that he can play at a higher level than that.

While Everton need defenders, he’s not quite at the level of the first team yet and instead of keeping him for another year, they must look to get some money from his sale.

Whether or not that happens, remains to be seen, but all signs are pointing towards the Frenchman sealing his permanent exit from Goodison Park.

Unless Sean Dyche urges the board to keep him, it’s hard to see him having a future at the club.

The Toffees have been bad at selling players in the past and hopefully for them, they have made the right appointments this time around as the summer could see others leave too.
