Simon Jordan rages at Harry Kane after ‘laughable’ incident in Everton 1-1 draw v Tottenham
Simon Jordan has slammed Harry Kane after the Tottenham striker was involved in an incident with Abdoulaye Doucouré during Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Everton.
The England captain went to ground after being pushed in the face by the 30-year-old midfielder, who was subsequently sent off.
Despite, the incident happening at the start of the week, the outspoken talkSPORT pundit was still scathing of the incident on Friday morning.
“Harry Kane went over like he’d been shot and there’s no need for it and it’s something we should all look at it with absolute contempt,” said Jordan (talkSPORT White and Jordan, 7 April).
“We should appreciate great footballers and we should appreciate great skill and courage, and when all that’s called out, no one complains.
“When someone does the polar opposition they should be held accountable, I think it’s laughable.”
Modern game
Dourcoure made a mistake, but it’s sad that Kane had to go to the ground in that way to ensure the Everton man was sent off. It was a sending-off, there’s no denying that, but due to the incompetence of referees, the England captain couldn’t risk the incident being missed, hence why he went to the ground.
There’s so much riding on every single Premier League fixture, these players are right to do everything possible to gain a competitive advantage and getting an opposition player sent off does exactly that.

An Everton player would’ve done exactly the same thing, so there can be next to no complaints for any Evertonian. It’s a shame for Dourcoure, who has been reborn under Sean Dyche. The midfielder has looked combative and energetic and will be sorely missed ahead of the Toffees’ trip to Manchester United on Saturday (8 April).
With United in slightly indifferent form, there’s a chance for Dyche’s men to potentially steal what would be a vital point.
