Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin mooted to return soon from injury – Alan Myers

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin may reportedly be close to returning from injury having missed several weeks of football.

Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers is hopeful that the England striker will be back in action as he was not even on the matchday squad for the 2-0 loss against Manchester United.

Ellis Simms started the game with Demarai Gray playing in a slightly withdrawn position but the Toffees were hardly a goal threat on Saturday, 8 April.

Myers wrote on Twitter, “I’m hopeful we see DCL soon too. Just think he’s close.”

Much needed

The Toffees lack a proper focal point and that is costing them, especially on the road as the chances they’re getting to score are few and bar in between.

Everton have tried to play Ellis Simms and Demarai Gray and that hasn’t worked as many thought it would and Neal Maupay has proven to be extremely unreliable.

Everton

He’s got one goal in over 30 games and that’s a dismal tally for a professional striker which makes it baffling why the Toffees even considered signing him.

Calvert-Lewin is physical and does a great job at getting others into the game.

Even for Dyche, he loves tall forwards that are good in the air and that’s precisely what the England striker does so not having him is a big miss.

Simms and Gray both had a hard time getting into the game v Manchester United and had Calvert-Lewin been there, things could’ve gone a lot differently.
