Frontrunner emerges as Everton and Leeds United in transfer battle for Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres
Leeds United are reportedly leading Everton in the race to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres in the summer transfer window.
According to Tutto Juve [8 April], the Premier League rivals are both keen on the 24-year-old who’s having a great season in the Championship, with the Elland Road club the frontrunners, as things stand.
It’s understood that the Sweden international is likely to leave at the end of the season and Everton will have to shell out around £25million TEAMtalk [22 February].

Needed
Gyokeres is having an unreal season in the Championship and it seems like his next move has to be to a Premier League side this summer.
He’s bagged 18 goals and provided eight assists in 40 games and has been one of the best players in the second division.
At 24, he’s still not hit his prime and will only get better with age so it does make sense for him to take that leap as soon as he can.

Coventry do not seem likely to get promoted so he’s got very little incentive to stay at the club and he can surely aim higher.
Everton may be able to sign him slightly cheaper than what’s being quoted above as he will be in the final year of his contract at the club.
They need to begin the process right away if they are serious about Gyokeres as it’s imperative to bring in a solid goal scorer.
