Dele Alli transfer to Watford mooted by newspaper journalist amid Everton controversy
Watford can use their “parachute money” to bring struggling Everton midfielder Dele Alli to the club this summer, according to Jack McEachen of the Express.
Alli has returned to England following his unsuccessful loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas, with the 27-year-old’s future at Goodison Park up in the air.
The midfielder may have to “drop down” a level in order to get regular playing time, with Championship club Watford reportedly a potential destination.

“If both Alli and Everton are intent on him leaving the club this summer, he may have to drop down into the Championship in search of regular playing time as he may not get another Premier League offer,” McEachen wrote for the Express.
“Aside from the relegated teams this year, Watford may be of interest to Alli. He would be able to live in London while playing for the Hornets and they still have parachute money, having dropped down from the top division last year and would be able to offer him a higher wage packet than most.”

Downward spiral
Alli definitely needs a fresh start, but it seems very unlikely that Everton will give him one, particularly with a no-nonsense manager like Sean Dyche in the dugout.
The midfielder was once one of the most talented and sought-after young players on the planet, but he has endured a rapid downfall since his successful days at Tottenham.
Alli is never too far away from a negative headline these days, with the 27-year-old recently spotted with nitrous oxide, but there will still be some hope that the player can turn things around and return to his glory days on the pitch.
A summer exit looks very likely, but it remains to be seen which club will take a risk by signing the Toffees midfielder.
Given his recent record, it would be a huge risk to bring him on board, but given his ability, it could prove to be a fantastic decision if all parties involved worked hard enough to bring out the best in him.
