Everton player Dele Alli slammed by Sky Sports pundit after social media image emerges

Everton player Dele Alli has been slammed by Ray Parlour for his fall from grace since his phenomenal displays for Tottenham Hotspur.

Recently, an image appeared online where Alli was surrounded by laughing gas canisters which has led to another controversy surrounding the England international.

This comes after he’s had an unsuccessful loan spell at Besiktas and is now on the treatment table for an injury likely to keep him out for the season.

Parlour, a Sky Sports pundit, told talkSPORT, “It’s such a shame what’s happened with Dele Alli. What a player he was. I was at the game against Crystal Palace where he scored a brilliant goal for Spurs, on his chest. Unbelievable.

“A really top class talent. I don’t know what’s happened with his career, I really don’t.

“Whether it’s hunger, whether it’s that he doesn’t like football anymore. Some players don’t like football. They fall out of love with football.

“It’s a job for them at the end of the day. I mean, where does he go from here? He’s 27 years old.

“You could get two-hundred grand a week, it wouldn’t matter to me. It’s that buzz you get. I’m sure Dele is the same. He’s not getting that buzz now.

“I don’t know where he goes from here on which is a shame because what a talent he was.”

Needs a break

Alli has plenty of similarities to Ravel Morrison and it’s not that Morrison established himself as a professional but was viewed as the next big thing.

Then, due to attitude issues, he failed to live up to his true potential and kept failing at each club he went to.

Alli perhaps needs to be a free agent for a while and work with someone who can get him focused on the things he wants from life.

Once his head is in the right place, success on the field will follow as the talent just does not go away like that.

He may need to go somewhere where the spotlight is not that much or where he’s playing against players not as good as him, with the MLS being an option.

He’s understood to be annoyed by all that’s being written about him in the media and that’s also perhaps taking a toll on his health.
