Everton transfer news as Atalanta may have found replacement for Duvan Zapata
Atalanta may have already found a replacement for Everton transfer target Duvan Zapata in Premier League striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to Il Giorno.
The Italian publication reported last month (21 March) that the Toffees are readying a £13.1million bid for the Colombian after missing out on the striker in the January transfer window.
If Atalanta were to receive the right offer, they would still be willing to part company with the 32-year-old, who has scored just one goal from 19 Serie A appearances this season.

Everton are now looking to snatch the striker in the summer, and Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are now considering replacing Zapata with West Ham United outcast Scamacca if the former were to complete a move to Goodison Park.

Not the right fit
Everton seem to be chasing every European striker under the sun at the moment, and Zapata doesn’t look like the man who can fire the club up the Premier League table.
There are a number of factors working against the 34-capped Colombian international, but mostly his lack of goals this season.
The Toffees are already the lowest-scoring Premier League team with just 23 goals from 30 games, and adding yet another dubious striker signing isn’t going to improve this.
Zapata’s tally of just one Serie A goal this season isn’t the kind of form that should warrant a £13million move to the Premier League.
At 32 years old, the striker also is past the peak of his powers, and if Everton were to complete his signature, they would only be likely to get a year or two of worthwhile action out of Zapata.
The club must move on from their recent obsession with signing Zapata and, ideally, look for a forward who has experience scoring goals in the Premier League.
