Everton midfielder Amadou Onana loves project at Newcastle with summer transfer possible

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana reportedly loves the project at Newcastle after the Saudi takeover of the club and the change at the helm.

According to former RMC Sport journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Belgian midfielder considers a move to St James’ Park as an opportunity.

It’s also understood that the Magpies may intensify their interest in the summer as the 21-year-old was not open to leaving in the January transfer window.

Speaking to NUFC Blog about a move to Newcastle being on the cards, Tavolieri said, “Yes, why not, he loves the project.

“For the moment, Newcastle considers Onana as an opportunity.

“Their interest could become more concrete this summer, as the player decided in January to stay until the end of the season.”

Tough keeping him

If Newcastle qualify for the Champions League then the chances of them signing Onana will drastically increase.

Even Europa League can be a lure as he’ll get to play in Europe, but if it’s the big competition, the Belgian may find it hard to resist.

Fans can’t even blame him for it as he decided to stay in January and help Everton fight against relegation and has been one of their best players of the season.

Next year, there are no guarantees that the club will be putting a lot of money into the first-team squad so it may well be another relegation battle.

Onana does not only have Newcastle as Arsenal and Chelsea are also considering making a move for him and were linked with him over the past few months.

It’s going to be interesting to see which team shows the most interest and if he does decide to leave, Everton can demand a decent transfer fee for his services as well.
