Everton predicted XI v Fulham: Ben Godfrey to be axed by Sean Dyche

Sean Dyche will need to make some changes to the Everton side that lost to Manchester United when they take on Fulham at Goodison Park.

The London club will be travelling to Merseyside looking to dampen the Toffees’ chances of Premier League survival.

Heads will have fallen after the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United and Dyche will be looking for a reaction from his players.

Everton

In the last few weeks, Dyche has been using Ben Godfrey as a left-back, despite the Englishman being a centre-back by trade.

It has worked to varying degrees of success, but it’s fair to say that against United, Godfrey was exposed playing in that unfamiliar role.

He was caught out of possession time and again and the higher line also did not do the Toffees any favours.

He was rightfully withdrawn at half-time and it’s likely that Vitalii Mykolenko starts over him against Fulham.

Former West Ham coach Stuart Pearce was having none of Godfrey’s performances and even went on to call him “Awful” live on air.

The other change will see James Garner coming in for Ellis Simms – who struggled up top against the Red Devils in Manchester United.

Right now, it seems that he’s better suited to coming off the bench and playing against tired legs as that’s where he can cause the most damage.

It’s not going to be easy, but Everton have done significantly better at home than they have on their travels this term so they have every reason of believing that they can get something from this game.
