Everton want to sign Folarin Balogun, ‘crunch’ Arsenal talks set to take place

Everton are interested in signing Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun with the 21-year-old set to hold “crunch talks” with the Gunners, according to 90min.

Balogun is currently on-loan with Ligue 1 side Reims and has scored 18 goals in what has been a “stunning” 2022/23 campaign.

90min claim (13 April) the striker is due to hold talks with his parent club over his future with the 21-year-old eager to move elsewhere if first-team assurances cannot be made.

Everton

Brentford, Leicester, Wolves, Everton and Crystal Palace are all believed to be keeping tabs but could be put off by the £30million price tag.

Get it done

This is a move Sean Dyche should be looking to get over the line if the opportunity arises. Balogun has been immense for Reims and was unfortunate not to be called up to Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad. It appears he is eager to play first-team football and could be set to leave The Emirates.

Considering his age, the £30million price tag actually seems quite reasonable. He’s proven himself in one of Europe’s top five leagues and could develop further if he did make the move to Goodison Park. Furthermore, considering the prices of the Championship’s best players, this seems like a drop in the ocean.

Everton

With Everton’s striker shortage still a major problem, a new number nine has to be at the forefront of Dyche’s thinking come the start of the 2023/24 season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin cannot be trusted to stay fit and Ellis Simms is still relatively unproven in the top flight.
