Bryan Robson wowed by Conor Gallagher as £40m Everton transfer news emerges

Bryan Robson has praised the talents of Everton transfer target Conor Gallagher as he could still yet leave Chelsea this summer.

The Toffees were close to sealing a deal for the £40m-rated Chelsea academy graduate in January but the 23-year-old wished to remain at Stamford Bridge to fight for his place.

However, the England international is still considered a bit-part player at Chelsea, failing to win his place under former manager Graham Potter and he could still be one of the big midfield moves this summer as predicted by the Daily Mail [14 April].

And Robson speaking to the Daily Mail, waxed lyrical about the Chelsea star who is a £40m target. He said: “Love the energy he brings, the enthusiasm and the attitude he has but his best form was at Crystal Palace when he had a run of regular games. He is rash in his tackling but is young and can improve.”

Stellar

It remains to be seen whether Everton would return with a bid for the Stamford Bridge midfielder this summer, but it is evidently clear he would be a stark upgrade on any of Sean Dyche’s current options bar Amadou Onana.

The Toffees could well have a depleted midfield weaponry at the end of the season, with the likes of Onana linked with a summer exit, with both Arsenal and Chelsea lining up summer bids for the Belgian, according to Het Nieuwsblad [5 April] and Abdoulaye Doucoure currently on an expiring contract at Goodison Park.

Also, the future of Alex Iwobi remains up in the air, with the former Arsenal man attracting interest from Premier League clubs too, and is yet to sign a new deal with his contract running out next year, which means Everton will need to address the depleted midfield this summer and Gallagher represents a stellar opportunity for Dyche, providing they secure their English top-flight status at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old still remains a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge having rejected a move in January and would seriously need to think about his development and future at the top level if he is to realise his stunning potential. A move away to gain regular football could be ideal for him. Why not Everton?
