Dele Alli makes back-page news on Friday as Everton update emerges from Finch Farm

Everton manager Sean Dyche has shared the details of his conversation with Dele Alli, who has returned to Finch Farm following his loan spell at Besiktas.

Toffees midfielder Alli is now back in the UK following a hip injury, which may require surgery.

The 27-year-old’s future at Everton remains up in the air with the Mirror reporting that he’s got “one last shot at a career resurrection” with the Toffees with Dyche willing to give him another chance.

“About his injury, how he saw it,” Dyche said regarding his conversation with Alli, as quoted by the Daily Mirror (back page and page 62, 14 April).

“How he saw his time on loan and how he saw what he wants to do. First thing first is get the injury right. As regards football. Anything else is down to him.

“Some of it is common sense, do the right things and you know what the right things are.”

Testing times

It’s a difficult subject for the current Everton manager to address given the fact Alli was a signing of his predecessor Frank Lampard, with Dyche inheriting the somewhat troubled midfielder.

As loan spells go, Alli’s temporary move to Besiktas was pretty low on the scale, with the midfielder featuring just 15 times for the Turkish club and often coming under scrutiny from manager Senol Gunes.

The Besiktas boss reportedly froze out the former Tottenham man, who should now be eager to shake off his injury and prove his ability to Dyche once and for all.

His commitment, however, remains to be seen, with the 27-year-old continuing to hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately.

Alli has failed to have much of an impact in his 13 Everton matches so far, but the Toffees had been struggling all over the pitch during his initial stages at the club, with many fans hopeful that the midfielder can slowly but surely get back to his best and help turn things around at Goodison Park.
