Gary Neville gives ‘very worried’ Everton relegation verdict live on Sky Sports after 3-1 loss v Fulham

Gary Neville has admitted that he is “very worried” for Everton in their battle against relegation following their 3-1 loss at home to Fulham.

The Toffees suffered their second defeat in a row to leave them outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone, having played a game more than Nottingham Forest below them.

And while speaking live on Sky Sports (16 April, 13:06) Neville admitted that with their upcoming fixtures matched with their performance on Saturday (15 April), he isn’t as confident of their survival as he once was.

“I really would worry now for Everton,” he said.

“Bournemouth were going down a few weeks ago and I thought Forest would be in trouble, but Everton I thought for some reason would get out of it.

“But you look at the fixtures they’ve got and some of the stuff we saw yesterday.. Obviously they get back into the game with a really good goal.

“Everyone would have looked at this game, the Fulham game at home as one that they would pick up three points in potentially. But then this happens and I have to say I would be very worried if I was an Everton fan at this moment in time.”

Awful

There is a very, very real chance that Everton can be relegated this season and it simply isn’t good enough for a club of this size to be in this position.

When Sean Dyche was appointed as manager everyone seemed to expect the club to just magically climb the table, but while he has done a good job it hasn’t worked out that way.

The three remaining home games we have this season are against top four contenders Newcastle, potential treble winners Manchester City and then relegation rivals Bournemouth on the final day.

The away games also don’t look too much easier, but the team absolutely needs to find a way to get points on the board quickly because there isn’t a lot of time remaining to save ourselves.

Neville is right to be worried, and the fans and anyone associated with the club should be worried too. This is going to go to the wire. How we could do with key players returning from injury.
