Aberdeen slap price tag in excess of £6.5m on Everton striker target Duk

Aberdeen have placed an asking price of at least £6.5m on star striker Duk after he attracted interest from the likes of Everton, according to the Daily Record.

The Toffees are in the market for a new number nine amid concerns over the long-term reliability of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the future of Neal Maupay up in the air.

And after scouts watched him score twice last week (Daily Mail, 17 April), the Dons have slapped an asking price on his head that would see them scoop a record amount for a sale.

Portuguese giants Benfica have a 50% sell-on clause in the deal which means they will get half of any fee, so Aberdeen have set a price that would still see them scoop a big sum.

According to the Daily Record (18 April) that means they are eyeing in excess of £6m for the Cape Verde international and any deal could exceed the £6.5m they got for selling Calvin Ramsay to Liverpool last summer.

Gamble

Everton need attacking reinforcements and Duk would be an interesting target because he doesn’t have any real top flight experience.

He has been fantastic so far this season, notching 16 goals and registering two assists for Aberdeen in the SPFL while playing as the number nine or off the left-wing.

everton

This is his first season in Scotland and while he has done very well, a large chunk of his goals have come in a recent purple patch of form.

It would seem like a more reasonable transfer target for if Everton were to be relegated to the Championship for next season, as he would be low cost and the level would be lower.

But if we stay in the Premier League and the club are still interested in trying to sign the 23-year-old, it would have to be seen as a huge gamble and a signing that doesn’t really fit in with what we’re used to seeing from Sean Dyche in the transfer market.
