Duk fee likely to be too rich as Benfica clause revealed in Everton transfer news
Everton have once again been linked with interest in Aberdeen’s Duk, according to the Daily Record [18 April, back page].
The free-scoring Cape Verde international has been a revelation at Pittodrie this season despite the up and down nature of their campaign.
Duk has revealed that his former side Benfica are due 50% of any future transfer fee though, meaning that any deal could be “too rich” for most of the interested clubs.

Duk is said to be attracting interest from clubs across Europe due to his strong form in Scotland, following his switch from Benfica B, last summer.
“He has already been linked with Italian sides Spezia and Bologna,” Scott Burns wrote.
“Everton and Burnley have also been reportedly interested, as have several English Championship sides but any fee involved is likely to be too rich for the majority of them.”

Potential budget
Obviously, the summer shortlist of transfer targets will be determined by what division the Toffees will be playing in, next season.
Regardless of that, there will need to be an overhaul in the attacking options available within Sean Dyche’s squad. That is an issue that has been sorely evident in recent weeks and a key factor in the current struggles on the pitch.
Despite signing a three-year deal with Aberdeen, they are not likely to be able to command an excessive fee but Dons chiefs will look to maximise any potential deal with Benfica said to have a 50% sell-on clause.
The reported interest from Merseyside is said to have included an Everton rep taking in the 1-0 victory over Ross County last Friday, with the only goal of that game coming from Duk.
He has netted six times in Aberdeen’s current run of six consecutive victories, in an overall tally of 16 league goals so far this season.
