Opta supercomputer shares new Everton Premier League relegation prediction following loss v Fulham

Everton are now third favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season, according to Opta Analyst.

The Toffees have been given a 57.8% chance of dropping to the Championship following the 3-1 loss to Fulham on Sunday (16 April).

The figure represents a 16.4% increase from the 41.4% chance of going down handed to Everton before the Fulham match.

“Whereas Palace have enjoyed their new manager bounce at just the right time – did Everton make their move a little too early?” according to Opta Analyst.

“They won two of their first three Premier League matches under Sean Dyche but have since managed just one victory in their last eight games (D3 L4).

“It’s the sort of trend that gets our supercomputer, especially after seeing its pick of them beating Fulham going down the drain, twitchy with it now making the Toffees third favourites for the drop (57.8%).”

Negativity continues

The 16.4% rise in Everton’s relegation chances represents the biggest increase among the eight clubs involved in Opta Analyst’s Premier League relegation prediction chart.

And it will come as no surprise to fans of the Merseyside outfit, who were forced to watch on as their club were dominated by Fulham at Goodison Park.

Given it took place at home, the defeat was disappointing enough, but the negativity was furthered by the fact that Fulham headed into the game having lost their previous five matches.

It had been a fine start for Dyche, but the worrying run of form has come at the wrong time, with Everton only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

In even more worrying news for Dyche, the tricky fixtures come thick and fast, with Crystal Palace up next for the Toffees, with the Eagles winning all three of their matches since the return of Roy Hodgson.

Everton finish April with a clash against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle, who are currently chasing a Champions League spot.
