Pundit shares ‘atrocious’ Everton verdict in Premier League relegation race

Michael Ball has urged Everton to find another way to rectify their “atrocious” away form this season as the Premier League relegation battle heats up.

The Toffees have just one away win in the current Premier League campaign, with only Nottingham Forest having a worse record, as per Sports Mole.

Everton currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, with only goal difference keeping the club out of the bottom three, as things stand.

Discussing what could be going wrong when it comes to Everton’s away struggles, Ball wrote for the Liverpool Echo: “Ask the players, have a team meeting and get Seamus Coleman to speak to the lads.

“Let’s talk about it now, get it out in the open with the staff over what we can do moving forward because I don’t want to be back here come the end of the season thinking ‘we should have tried this.’ Whatever we’ve tried in the past hasn’t worked and history proves that over the past two seasons so we need to find another way.

“Our record away is atrocious and we really need to start putting points on the board on our travels. It is not panic stations as we’re still not in the bottom three but we’re looking at the games ahead and concerned over where our points are going to come from.”

Away struggles

Everton have picked up just six league wins all season, five of which have come at Goodison Park, highlighting just how poor they have been on the road.

Away draws have, however, perhaps kept them out of the bottom three, with the Toffees drawing six matches on the road, compared to just three at home.

There are various reasons for the huge struggles away from Merseyside, and Sean Dyche will be keen to address those ahead of many difficult away matches coming up.

They start with a trip to Selhurst Park to take on an in-form Crystal Palace side on Saturday (22 April), with visits to struggling Leicester and Wolves, along with high-flying Brighton also on the schedule.

Winning points away from home may be the only option for the Toffees given the fact the likes of Newcastle and Manchester City travel to Goodison in the near future.

Dyche will need to fix the problem and fix it fast, particularly as clubs in and around Everton continue to pick up points here and there.
