Everton defender Seamus Coleman may be ruled out of Crystal Palace clash – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton defender Seamus Coleman may not be fit in time to return to the eleven to take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert states that 30 per cent of hamstring injuries recur in the first two weeks and that’s precisely what has happened with the Toffees captain.

Coleman was ruled out of the game against Fulham despite starting the 2-0 loss against Manchester United and remains a doubt for the game on Saturday, 22 April.

Speaking exclusively with Goodison News about Coleman’s condition, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “It’s recurred because hamstring injuries come under high demands for footballers, nearly 30 per cent recur within first two weeks of a player returning.

“Hard to assign the blame for it because it’s a constant navigation of risk/reward, especially when players want to play in key international and club games.

“Not sure if he will be back against Palace as it depends on the extent and location of the injury along with how he’s responding to treatment.”

The 34-year-old picked up an niggle during the international break as was the chief injury concern going into Ireland’s second fixture.

However, the Everton full-back ended up playing that game as well as the United one, but a quick return without enough rest has seen him being ruled out once again.
