Everton defender Mason Holgate destroyed by Sky Sports pundit for moment in draw v Crystal Palace

Lee Hendrie did not mince his words while describing Everton defender Mason Holgate’s decision which got him sent off v Crystal Palace.

The 26-year-old started at right-back in place of the injured Seamus Coleman and did not have a game to remember on Saturday, 22 April, with the contest ending 0-0.

Crystal Palace have shared the footage of the red card on their official YouTube channel.

Speaking on the Premier League world feed, Hendrie, a Sky Sports pundit, said [22/04, 16:39], “What a calamity. Holgate’s had a mare against Ayew. Really bad decision and he’s put his team in trouble.”

Stupid

Holgate is a professional footballer so for him to do these kinds of things are baffling, to say the least.

Even in amateur games, players are aware that they’re on yellows and do not make such challenges that can risk getting them sent off.

It’s not like if he hadn’t put his leg there, Palace would’ve gone on to score as Ayew was not even facing the goal and there was a proper cover for him.

Everton

Even if he was to slide in, he went in with his wrong leg and these are basics that even the layperson can point out so it’s astounding how he cannot.

Thankfully, Everton did not end up losing that game but it ensured that they won’t be able to win it because of that decision.

Holgate deservedly got a 1/10 for that display and we will be really surprised if he starts another game until the end of the season.
