Everton investment update shared as Bill Kenwright hits back at fans amid MSP Sports Capital talks
Everton MSP investment talks have been held as Bill Kenwright seeks a “financial injection” at Goodison Park, according to the Daily Mail.
The Esk had reported via Twitter on 14 March that the New York-based investment fund’s interest had waned and that any deal was unlikely.
However, Kenwright wrote to Evertonians on Friday 21 April revealing he has been battling a chronic illness for eight years but it would not impact on his search for new investment.

The Daily Mail report (21 April) highlights that Everton have been in talks with the investment fund about potential backing.
Needed
The timing of the statement from Kenwright is questionable. Of course, all Evertonians will wish him well health-wise, but this could have waited till the end of the 2022/23 season so to come out on the eve of an important game is baffling. One thing we can all agree on is that fresh investment is desperately required.
The Bramley-Moore Dock build needs to be finished, with the threat of relegation set to have a considerable impact. Furthermore, if Premier League football is secured, the squad needs significant surgery to stave off a third consecutive campaign fighting the drop.

It’s been a dreadful couple of years for the club and right now, all the support and focus should be centred on Sean Dyche and the players. It’s all well and good talking about potential investment, but if Everton are a Championship club, the whole complexion changes.
It’s a scenario which cannot be contemplated and perhaps Kenwright should’ve come out with a message of support to the fans, players and management, instead of a revelation on his health which has been ongoing for eight years. The timing just doesn’t quite make sense.
