Everton attacker Andros Townsend setback makes 2022/23 return off the cards – Injury Expert
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...
Everton attacker Andros Townsend may be fighting to get fit again, but is highly unlikely to play this season, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.
According to the injury expert, the fact that the Englishman has suffered one setback after another in his recovery, the chances of his return before the end of May are minimal.
The Toffees medical staff are expected to be careful with how they plan on bringing the 31-year-old back to full fitness after his ACL injury.

Speaking exclusively with Goodison News about Townsend’s condition, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “At this stage, his current day-to-day recovery is likely more specific to football movement and actions combined with ongoing strength and conditioning and recovery.
“It sounds like he has suffered some major setbacks so the club will be very methodical with his return. Generally, with longer-term injuries, you need to be more methodical and sensitive because of the loss of fitness and often times confidence.
“Seems a huge doubt that he returns this season at this juncture.”
Townsend appeared to be close to a return as he was spotted in training for the first time this season in mid January.
However, then Everton manager Frank Lampard claimed that he faced a setback in his recovery and by the looks of things, he’s not expected to return before the season ends.
