Sean Dyche issues Everton injury update on Amadou Onana and Seamus Coleman ahead of Premier League clash v Newcastle
Sean Dyche is “hopeful” that Amadou Onana will be able to return for Everton when they face Newcastle on Thursday after the draw with Crystal Palace.
The Belgium international has missed the last two games with a groin injury, while captain Seamus Coleman has been absent for three games with a hamstring problem picked up on international duty.
But both players are closing in on a return to action with Dyche admitting after the 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park that both players are making “good progress” with their recovery ahead of the game at Goodison Park this week, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo (23 April).

Abdoulaye Doucoure is set to be available once again too having served his three-game ban for slapping Harry Kane, meaning Dyche is close to being back to somewhat full strength again.
Ruben Vinagre has a long-term problem, as does Andros Townsend and will miss the game, while Mason Holgate will serve his suspension following his red card.
Boost
Dyche has had to deal with big problems in the heart of the midfield in recent weeks, and it has shown in our results with just one point from our last three games.
With six games to go Everton currently sit in the relegation zone and need to pick up points, but won’t be favourites at all heading into a game with high-flying Newcastle who just thumped Spurs.

But Dyche will be far more confident if he is able to call upon his captain and best midfielder for the game, to add to the return of Doucoure and having a fit-again Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the side too.
Points are necessary as soon as possible, and to get them we need to have our best players available and in-form.
It’s going to be a very tight and tense affair to close the season, and that means these slim differences need to start going in our favour if Dyche is to pull this off.
