Bill Kenwright slammed over latest ‘fuel on the fire’ Everton move amid ‘all wrong’ verdict by Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Bill Kenwright’s open letter to Everton fans prior to the Crystal Palace game has been blasted as “all wrong” in its timing by Kevin Campbell.
The Toffees chairman suddenly responded to calls for him and the board to step down from the supporter group All Together Now on Friday (21 April), before a key trip to Selhurst Park.
But Campbell doesn’t understand why he made that decision and feels that it has just caused the relationship between Kenwright and the fans to fall to an even lower level with the club still battling relegation.

Sky Sports pundit and former captain Campbell exclusively told Goodison News: “I don’t know who does the timing at Everton. The timing’s all wrong.
“Why do you need to respond? Especially at this time.
“Honestly, to me it makes no sense. It means that Bill Kenwright, bless him, he’s throwing more fuel on the fire.
“At the end of the day, as far as I’m concerned, the board have their idea, the fans have their opinions.
“You don’t need to say anything. Secure your status and then come out at the end of the season and then start talking.
“You don’t need that now. I think the timing’s wrong if I’m honest.”

The ongoing criticism is obviously affecting Kenwright, especially in light of his health issues, but it is not unwarranted for him to be held to account for the years of mismanagement on his watch.
He seems to be steadfast in his insistence on continuing to stay in place, yet things go from bad to worse off the pitch and linger on the brink of peril pretty consistently on it.
Decision-making at Goodison has been a major problem during the Farhad Moshiri era, and the chairman’s decision to come out last week and attempt to absolve himself of blame while pointing to Denise Barrett-Baxendale as the one running the operation was just the latest in an ongoing series of bad ones.
