Everton given relegation ‘bottom line’ ahead of Newcastle clash as Sky Sports pundit delivers Dominic Calvert-Lewin fitness verdict

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Everton are going to have to deliver performances at Goodison Park to avoid relegation but Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s availability is a boost, says Kevin Campbell.

The Toffees haven’t taken three points away from home since beating Southampton 2-1 on 1 October, but Sean Dyche has picked up three wins at home since his arrival in January.

With Newcastle heading to Goodison for the Thursday night clash (27 April) Campbell knows that the results on Merseyside will be the difference between relegation and survival because draws on the road are not going to be enough.

Everton

The Sky Sports pundit exclusively told Goodison News ahead of the Magpies visit: “He’s got Dominic Calvert-Lewin back fit, he played 90 minutes at the weekend, that’s going to help.

“Going away and getting a point at Palace, who are in form, that’s a good result.

“Ultimately it’s going to come down to what Everton do at Goodison.

“The last game against Fulham wasn’t great but they’re going to have to produce some performances at Goodison Park.

“That’s the bottom line.”

Everton

Just as it was last season it is again this campaign, Everton are heading into the final weeks with their top flight status on the line and the pressure around home games huge.

The fanbase are once again being leaned on to provide support that few other sides can hope for to make up for failings inside the club.

With the return of Anthony Gordon on top of the stakes being so high for the Toffees there won’t be any shortage of atmosphere, but the players are going to have to match it if they are going to have a hope of recording a first win in five.
