Sky Sports expert predicts result of Everton v Newcastle United Premier League clash

Sky Sports expert Lewis Jones has predicted Newcastle to defeat Everton 2-0 in their Premier League clash on Thursday (27 April).

The struggling Toffees welcome the high-flying Magpies to Goodison Park, with the hosts aiming to climb the rankings under Sean Dyche.

But the visitors will be in high spirits on their trip to Merseyside after defeating Tottenham 6-1 on Sunday (23 April).

Everton

“Everton have only managed to score two or more goals in one of their 16 home games this season,” Jones wrote for Sky Sports.

“It’s hard to see their flimsy attack being potent enough to achieve scoring twice against one of the tightest defences in Europe and a rampant attack that has found the net 13 times in their last four matches. Score prediction: 0-2”

Everton

Very tough test in store

The Toffees have been in desperate need of points for quite some time, but that urgency has increased following a lack of victories in recent times.

Everton last picked up three points against Brentford on 11 March, and even then it was by the smallest of margins as Dwight McNeil netted the only goal of the game.

The disappointing run of late has left Dyche’s men sitting 18th place in the Premier League table, with other clubs also not helping their cause by recently picking up points in what is a fierce relegation battle.

Unfortunately for the Toffees, their run doesn’t get any easier as they welcome Eddie Howe’s Magpies to Goodison.

Newcastle are not only very sturdy at the back, but their attack has been lethal this season, meaning Everton are in for a real test.

Keeping a clean sheet will perhaps be priority number one for Dyche on the night, but that is of course much easier said than done against the likes of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.
