Supercomputer makes new Everton and Leeds United relegation prediction after surprise Premier League twist

Everton are now second-favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season after Nottingham Forest’s surprise win over Brighton on Wednesday night.

Steve Cooper’s side came from behind to win 3-1 against the high-flying Seagulls to move out of the relegation zone and up to 17th in the table.

FiveThirtyEight’s algorithm has crunched the numbers and now believes Everton have a huge 63 per cent chance of being relegated.

As you can see Leicester are predicted to finish 16th with a 34 per cent chance of going down and Leeds are tipped to finish 17th and secure safety with a 45 per cent chance of relegation.

Forest, Everton and Southampton are the three clubs expected to go down.

Wow

Forest’s unexpected win over Brighton has changed the landscape quite a bit.

Before that game started, FiveThirtyEight’s supercomputer predicted that Everton had just a 58 per cent chance of being relegated and were tipped to finish 18th.

Now it looks as though they’re doomed.

The Blues are yet to play in this run of midweek fixtures but a clash against Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Thursday night (27 April) is hardly going to be easy.

Everton

Newcastle are bearing down on a top-four finish and qualifying for next season’s Champions League under Eddie Howe.

And after seeing them dismantle Tottenham and beating them 6-1 at the weekend, it’s hard to see how the Toffees will come away from this game with anything.

Our final five games are then against Leicester away, Brighton away, Manchester City at home, Wolves away and Bournemouth at home.
