Finance Expert: Everton must be in Premier League to replicate sponsorship deal
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Everton must remain in the Premier League if they want to replicate the value of their sponsorship with Stake in the future.
The Toffees are set to lose the supposed £10million deal due to the upcoming ban on gambling sponsorship on the front of shirts in the Premier League.
Plumley admitted that Everton are a club that can command that price or even more again, but losing their top-flight status could hurt them in yet another area.

“It did look like that all of the narratives was it was a deal to match West Ham at £10million,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“I’ve never had that absolutely confirmed from anything, it’s not an insignificant amount of money, but you’ve got to think Everton are a club that could command a fee in that region still, but that is absolutely dependent on Premier League status because we know that, if you drop into the Championship, the value of the shirt sponsor deal would reduce.
“That does hurt you from a sponsorship side of things as those deals do reduce in value if you get relegated, if you want to realise another £10million deal in that space or even above that, then you need to be a Premier League club to do it.”

This is likely at the bottom of the list of things concerning fans at Goodison Park right now, but it is yet more negative news with even money potentially lost.
£10million for a sponsorship deal outside of the top six clubs in the Premier League is huge, so keeping that will be vitally important, let’s just hope another is signed soon as it could mean the club managed to avoid that dreaded bottom three in a matter of weeks.
