Anthony Gordon exit from Everton to feature in new £10m Newcastle United documentary on Amazon

Anthony Gordon’s summer exit from Everton is likely to be featured on a new £10m Newcastle United Amazon documentary later this year, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The Toffees academy product left for St. James’ Park in the January transfer window under a cloud in a £45million deal [Sky Sports, 30 January], and the relationship between the 22-year-old and his former fans has irretrievably broken down since.

And in a new £10m Newcastle United Amazon documentary series, the whole transfer saga from the January sale is likely to feature alongside the Magpies’ run to the EFL cup final and likely Champions League qualification, as revealed by the Mail on Sunday newspaper [30 April, page 98]

Tetchy

How Everton fans will feel about reliving the sale of one of their former star products will certainly be uncomfortable given the now-fractious relationship between the two parties, after he was booed in the two club’s recent Premier League meeting [27 April].

A year ago Gordon was one of the few silver linings from a nightmare season that ultimately just avoided relegation under Frank Lampard, after a solid season in the first team.

Everton

But so much can happen in a year, and that is the case of the youngster as he “forced his way out” of the club in the winter window by “effectively going on strike” [Telegraph, 27 April], leaving the struggling Everton for the high-flying Magpies, which in hindsight could well prove a good move for his career.

However, things haven’t been plain sailing since his move with Eddie Howe consigning to the bench in many of the games they’ve had since he joined.

But, with the club in such a difficult spell right now and seeing their Premier League status come under serious threat, it’s perfectly understandable they wouldn’t want to see their former academy star enjoying his move to Tyneside.
