Richard Keys shares Sam Allardyce anti-Everton incentive after taking Leeds United manager’s job

Richard Keys believes Sam Allardyce has taken the Leeds United manager’s job in part so he can relegate Everton to the Championship.

Allardyce is set to become the new Leeds manager with four games remaining of the season after they sacked Javi Gracia, with just one point separating four of the bottom five teams.

But considering his history on Merseyside with Everton, Keys has suggested that Allardyce will see it as an “incentive” to relegate Everton from the Premier League at the same time as keeping Leeds in the division.

“Big Sam is back,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (2 May).

“There’s a theme here. The return of the dinosaurs. Hodgson Warnock Allardyce.

“You can’t buy experience. Welcome back big man.

“What an incentive for him – keep Leeds up and relegate Everton.”

Two way street

A lot of the players at Goodison Park won’t have been at the club when Allardyce was the manager, but the fans all remember.

He was an incredibly unpopular manager at the time and the things he has said since haven’t seen him earn any more fans.

Everton

Obviously the most important thing for Everton fans at this point is our own issues and our survival, but how great would it be to do it at the expense of Big Sam?

There aren’t many more home games to play and all our remaining fixtures are going to be very tough. However the fans now have an extra reason to sing that little bit louder and be that little bit more passionate, as if they needed one.

But the most important thing is that Everton give their all and perform in a way that can make the fans proud and earn the team points on the board. We need it, regardless of what Allardyce is doing.
