Seamus Coleman reveals no ACL damage sustained after injury in Leicester City draw

Everton defender Seamus Coleman has revealed that he did not suffer ACL damage after picking up an injury in the draw against Leicester City.

The Toffees captain was stretchered off in the 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium on Monday (1 May) after a horrible-looking first-half collision with Boubacary Soumare.

However, taking to Instagram on Wednesday (3 May), and as shared by Everton’s official Twitter account, Coleman shared that he would “be back soon” after scans showed no ACL damage.

“Just wanted to update you all, thanks so much for all the well wishes,” he posted.

“Just back from my scan and pleased to say I have no ACL damage.

“Be back soon.”

Many Everton fans believed that Coleman being stretched off the King Power pitch was going to be his last action in an Everton shirt, but this update gives the defender a glimmer of hope.

Considering the defender said he would “be back soon”, suggests that he is not finished at Goodison Park and still wishes to take to the grass again.

It would be extremely unlikely that Coleman will be back in the next couple of weeks, but considering his contract with the club expires this June, he either believes he will return before the season’s end, or that he will continue playing on Merseyside next season.

The Republic of Ireland international has been a great servant to Everton over the years, and his leadership could still be crucial to Sean Dyche – even if he doesn’t make it out onto the pitch again.

The Toffees are in a serious plight right now, and they need every leader they can.

Coleman still has an important role to play despite being unlikely to feature due to injury.
