Wolves enter race to sign Everton target Viktor Gyokeres in £25m deal

Wolves are preparing bid for Everton transfer target Viktor Gyokeres during the summer transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

The Coventry City star has scored 21 goals in the Championship this season and attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs including the Toffees, who scouted him back in March.

But according to a new report Wolves have now entered the race for the £25m-rated Sweden international and are preparing a bid for him this summer, moving ahead of Everton in the process.

“Wolves are preparing a summer move for Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres, talkSPORT understands,” they wrote (4 May).

“The Sky Blues value the Sweden international at £25million. Gyokeres, who was formerly on Brighton’s books, has scored 21 goals in the Championship this season.”

Blow

Everton are going to need to add a new striker to the ranks in the summer with Neal Maupay’s career all but done at Goodison and doubts around the long-term qualities of Ellis Simms and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Gyokeres has been mightily impressive this season with Coventry and has been a big reason for their success in the division, with so many goals and a clear belief that he is ready to step up to the next level.

Everton

But with our Premier League status far from secured at this point, we simply can’t look to move forward with any transfers at this point and that gives rivals an advantage.

Wolves are safe and need a striker too, and they have money to splash if they need to, meaning Gyokeres is a very viable option for them.

With so much competition for his signature they’re moving early to get it sealed, and Everton may have to just sit back and watch it happen because of such a poor campaign.
