Chris Sutton predicts result of Everton Premier League clash v Brighton
Chris Sutton has predicted the result of Brighton’s Premier League clash against Everton at the Amex on Monday evening.
The Toffees are coming off of an exhilarating 2-2 draw against Leicester City, a game Sean Dyche’s side probably should’ve won.
Brighton are also in excellent form, having beaten Manchester United on Thursday (4 May) to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive.

Sutton has backed the Seagulls to “comfortably” beat Everton after they previously “wiped the floor” with the Toffees at Goodison Park.
“I fancy Brighton strongly here. Everton were quite direct against Leicester in the week, which was effective, and I am sure they will try the same again, but they have got to get the ball off the Seagulls first,” said Sutton (BBC predictions, 4 May)
“Everton’s main threat will come from set-pieces; at the other end, though, I can’t see Brighton struggling to create chances.
“They wiped the floor with the Toffees at Goodison Park in January and should win comfortably this time too.”
Go for it
Everton need to go for it, much like they did against Leicester City. Dyche’s men took the game to their hosts. They didn’t allow the Foxes to settle and can count themselves unlucky not to have secured all three points in the latter stages. Brighton are a completely different test.
Roberto De Zerbi’s growing reputation has seen the Sussex side to the brink of the Champions League places. The Italian has proven himself to be a suitable replacement for Graham Potter, with his innovative style of play catching the eye.

The Toffees have to come up with the answers. They simply have to put points on the board. In fact, they could be cut adrift before they even kick a ball, with Leeds, Leicester and West Ham all taking to the field before the Toffees.
With Manchester City on the horizon, it’s getting to a point where the Toffees may have to win their last two fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth in order to survive.
