Everton defender Seamus Coleman out for season but setback not long term – Injury Expert
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...
Everton defender Seamus Coleman will be missing the rest of the season but is not a long-term injury setback, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert asserts that the good news is that it’s not an ACL injury which would’ve kept him out for at least half of next season.
Players tend to take six to nine months to recover from it, and longer if they have a previous injury issue as Coleman does.

Speaking exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “The latest from Sean Dyche is that Coleman does have ligament damage in the knee that will keep him out for the remainder of the season but it’s not his ACL which is very good news as it would be long term [if it was ACL].
“His return to full fitness will depend on the injury specifics, namely the severity of the damage and which structures and which ligament was damaged.”
The 34-year-old has been a mainstay in Everton’s backline under multiple managers despite his age and injury record.

This season, he has made 20 starts in the Premier League and come off the bench on three different occasions for the Toffees.
There were fears initially that it could’ve been an ACL injury, but as mentioned above, were allayed by the manager.
Along with Coleman, Dele Alli and Andros Townsend are also out for the rest of the season.
