Chris Sutton reacts to Everton win v Brighton live on BT Sport as Dwight McNeil scores in 5-1 win
Chris Sutton reacted with delight at Dwight McNeil’s thunderbolt finish to secure a stunning victory for Everton over Brighton, live on BT Sport on Monday 08 May.
McNeil’s second strike of the game put the icing on the cake for Sean Dyche’s side in what was a very sweet treat for the Evertonians.
The 1-5 win gives the Toffees some breathing space in the battle to avoid relegation to the Championship, as they now have a two-point lead over Leicester City who sit in 18th place in the table.
Sutton praised the ruthlessness of McNeil who made no mistake from inside the box, to compound a night of misery for the Seagulls.
“Oh my god,” he said on BT Sport 1 [19:28].
“What a strike that was, absolutely stunning. He’s got a wonderful left foot.”

Five alive
This was Everton’s first win in almost two months, since the 1-0 victory over Brentford on 11 March, and what a way to record it.
No smash and grab, no set-piece reward. This was an emphatic, resounding, rewarding, five-alive goal-fest that will see the squad approach the rest of the campaign with confidence.
McNeil was one of the star performers on the night for Dyche, who was delighted that his game plan was executed to the letter.
The former Burnley man’s second goal of the night was even more impressive as it appeared he had removed his angle to the target with a touch to the left but it turned out to be a deft move as he immediately pulled the trigger to devastating effect.
It was wonderful, stunning, and everything else, just like the overall success on the night for Everton and hopefully one that sets them on their way to survival.
